Key breakthroughs in key technologies for low-grade lightweight oil in China

China National Petroleum Corporation announced today that it has made major breakthroughs in key technology research and development for the major science and technology specialization of low-grade heavy oil, and PetroChina has become the third company in the world to master Venezuela’s ultra-heavy oil processing technology.
From October 28th to November 4th, Venezuela's delayed coking industrial trial of heavy oil vacuum residue was made a success at Liaohe Petrochemical Company. The on-site test team has completed all the test contents and processed a total of 20,000 tons of Venezuela's ultra-heavy oil vacuum residue, taking all test data to meet the test calibration and process package design requirements, and achieving safe and stable operation.
Venezuela's extra heavy oil is the most difficult low-quality heavy oil in the world. Delayed coking is the most important means of lightweight processing. Previously, only the United States Whistler Corporation and ConocoPhillips had oil coking processing technology. Research on Key Technologies for Lightweight Low-grade Heavy Oil The joint research was conducted with a project team consisting of Petrochemical Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation, Liaohe Petrochemical, East China Design Branch of the Engineering Construction Company and China University of Petroleum (East China).
