In the first half of the year, the sales volume of imported trucks increased 25.9% against the market

As the domestic truck market has shrunk by more than 30%, and sales of almost all trucks have fallen, the sales of imported trucks have increased significantly. According to data gathered by reporters from various sources, from January to June this year, the sales of imported trucks reached 11,449 units, an increase of 25.9% compared with 9,094 units in the same period of last year; the sales volume of imported trucks reached 1,087 million US dollars, an increase of 26.8% from the same period last year of 858 million US dollars. .

Among them, Japanese brands and European brands are still the main force of imported trucks. Up to now, although the detailed sales data of imported trucks in July and August have not been counted, they have also seen a significant increase over the same period of last year based on market feedback.

Comprehensive data from commercial vehicle specialists Tian Yongchun, Customs Information Network and SINOMACH, from January to June 2012, imported 5,286 Japanese trucks, 3,138 German trucks, 1,153 trucks from Sweden, and 1,554 trucks from the United States. Austria produced 61 trucks, Thailand produced 18 trucks, Mexico produced 7 trucks, Britain produced 1 truck, Poland produced 14 trucks, and other countries produced 209 trucks.

Well-known automotive engineers, commercial vehicle research and observers, and deputy secretary-general Yang Jiechi believe that on the surface, there are many Japanese trucks imported, but most of them are light trucks. Most of the imported heavy trucks are still concentrated in European brands. Specifically, this year, as in previous years, Chinese users still prefer Man, followed by Volvo, and Mercedes and Scania again. Among them, Mann and Volvo are mainly used for highway logistics. Mercedes-Benz and Scania have a large portion of them for special vehicles, mainly fire engines, aerial vehicles, cement pump trucks and military weapons vehicles. Imported Japanese trucks are concentrated in three brands, Nissan, Isuzu and Hino. Compared with the three brands, the import of Hino is becoming less and less. Due to the low tonnage of heavy-duty trucks in Japan and the low cargo load, the main products are mainly 6×4 and 6×2, which do not meet the needs of Chinese users, so the import volume is less.

According to Tan Xiuqing, member of the National Automobile Standardization Technical Committee and expert of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers Expert Committee, sales of European brand trucks in China have increased significantly this year, mainly due to the increase in road freight traffic or the increase in vehicle purchases by road logistics companies. The demand for imported truck chassis has grown rapidly. Companies such as China United, Sany, and Hualing Xingma have always had the habit of importing trucks and other types of special-purpose vehicles such as cement pump trucks. In general, these companies used to use Mercedes-Benz chassis, followed by Scania. This year, These companies have greatly increased their output, so they also imported many chassis from Man, Volvo and Hino. The reasons for the increase in the imports of Japanese trucks are more complex. On the one hand, the demand for high-end light trucks increases. On the other hand, the demand for the chassis of the modified vehicles increases.

Sany and Hualing Xingma related parties confirmed that due to the prediction that the large-scale construction and investment will start in the second half of 2012, the demand for cement pump trucks, aerial vehicles, etc. will inevitably increase, so the company has increased this type of special The demand for imported truck chassis increased as the production of cars increased and inventory was increased.

Imported trucks for logistics have not grown

The information obtained by reporters from some logistics companies also shows that Tan Xiuqing’s judgment on the reasons for the growth of imported trucks is correct. The relevant persons of large logistics companies such as China Railway Logistics and Sinotrans Corporation all indicated that they did not purchase imported trucks this year. Gao Weizhi, vice president of China Railway Logistics Group, said that the company has a total of 1,000 vehicles in various types of logistics vehicles, of which imports account for nearly 10% of the truck, the total number of nearly 100, the brand is mostly Volvo, procurement time is concentrated in 2009 and 2010.

Gao Weizhi believes that the number of imported trucks purchased by logistics companies is related to two factors. One is the volume of highways on the main roads, because the larger domestic logistics companies usually use imported trucks for trunk transportation instead of branch line transportation. A trunk line refers to a fixed transportation route between major cities, such as between Beijing and Shanghai, between Beijing and Zhengzhou, and between Beijing and Shijiazhuang. The major cities are also the distribution centers for goods and materials. The main line provokes two material distribution centers, which makes it more demanding in terms of transportation speed, efficiency, safety, and driver comfort. It is generally believed that since the price of imported trucks is very high, a tractor will reach 1 million. Therefore, the safety and reliability should be higher and it is suitable for the task of transporting the main line. Therefore, if there is a significant increase in the volume of goods on the main highway, it will be necessary to purchase more imported trucks.

The second is related to the service life of imported trucks. If the company's original imported vehicles are retired and renewed in a certain year, the purchase volume of imported vehicles will increase. Because the price of imported trucks is very high, from the cost-benefit perspective, it takes at least 6 years to consider scrapping, and it usually takes more than 10 years before it will be scrapped and updated.

In 2012, the volume of road freight was basically the same as last year, and the imported vehicles of China Railway Logistics were still far from the deadline for scrapping. Therefore, the company had not purchased an imported truck by the end of August.

Gao Weizhi also stated that European heavy trucks exported to China are usually longer, and China's large logistics companies prefer to buy heavy trucks of 17.5 meters or more. Although such heavy trucks may seem bulky, they are very fast. There is no problem if they go up to 180 km/h and they can quickly transport large quantities of goods. Jin Zhenxi, a road law enforcement officer in Lijiang, Yunnan, also confirmed to reporters that some vehicles that transport smuggled goods and prohibited goods prefer to use imported trucks. It turns out that there is an unwritten rule in the highway system that a logistics vehicle is stuck on a highway and a check card is instructed to stop but it is hard to stop. The road truck cannot catch up because it is worried about a traffic accident and the safety of other vehicles. Affect normal highway traffic order. However, with the exception of Yunnan, because Yunnan is a prolific area where smuggled goods and drugs circulate, so when logistics vehicles are in hard-to-find situations, road officers are required to drive and chase until the other party is forced to stop for inspection. To evade inspections, some users switched vehicles to faster import trucks.

Although Japanese heavy trucks have a limited recognition in the Chinese market, their high-end light truck products still have a broad mass base, especially in Guangdong Province. Although in recent years, high-end light trucks such as JAC and Foton have emerged in spite of the sudden rise, sales of Japanese imported light trucks cannot be underestimated.
