Container hot metal transport six demonstration projects will start

The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Railways will hold a conference on the promotion of containerized hot metal transport on site in mid-October. Six iron-water combined transport routes for containers will be launched as demonstration projects to further promote the “hotcake” of large-scale hot metal transport.

According to the person in charge of the Water Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, since the beginning of the new century, the amount of railway container traffic has steadily increased. In 2010, the national iron and water transport container was 1.62 million TEUs, an increase of 30.5% year-on-year. At present, China's container iron and water transport in Dalian Port, Yingkou Port, Tianjin Port, Qingdao Port, Lianyungang Port and other ports have a certain scale. Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beibu Gulf have also gradually expanded their iron and steel container shipping capacity in the east, south, and southwest regions. Judging from the actual operational results, containerized hot metal transport can take advantage of the two modes of transportation, namely railway and water transport, to facilitate the connection between shipping and the “waterless port”, reduce logistics costs and energy consumption, improve China’s integrated transport system, and promote inland areas. Regional economic development is of great significance.

In order to further promote hot metal transportation, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Railways will hold a containerized hot metal transport on-site promotion meeting on October 12 to implement the “cooperation agreement on joint development of hot metal and water transport” jointly signed by the two parties in May this year and exchange experience and deployment. Container iron and iron transport demonstration work, and held demonstration project signing ceremony. The conference will announce the selection of six containerized hot melt transport lines as a demonstration project to carry out demonstration and research work in infrastructure construction, transportation support, informationization, market cultivation, key technology research, etc., promote the development of container hot metal transport, and gradually form containers in the country.
