The industry believes that acrylic acid supply and demand will improve significantly in the short term. It is understood that Arkema will increase the contract price of glacial acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate and methyl acrylate by 11 cents/lb from February 1st, while the February contract price of butyl acrylate will increase by 13 cents/lb. 2-ethylhexyl ester plans to increase prices by 14 cents/lb. The data showed that the price of propylene rose by 15 cents/lb in January. According to the ICIS assessment, the current US glacial acrylic acid prices range from 1.10 to 1.14 USD/lb, which means that the price increase is about 10%. Previously, another giant Dow Chemical raised the price by 3 cents/lb from January 1 and announced that it would raise the price of iconic acid and ester products by 9 cents/lb in February. BASF also raised the price of its products in January by 5 to 6 cents per pound for the same reason that raw material prices have risen. The industry expects that BASF will also announce an increase in acrylic acid prices in February, but it has not been announced yet. Among domestic companies, Zhejiang Satellite raised its offer for acrylics by RMB 200/t on January 21. Shanghai Huayi’s capacity of 110,000 tons of acrylic acid equipment was accidentally parked on January 20. At present, 50% of the factory's acrylic and butyl acrylate plant starts and the ethyl acrylate plant is stopped. The restart time is uncertain.
