According to the person in charge of Chenxin New Energy, the technology uses methanol as a raw material and ionic liquid as a catalyst to synthesize DMM3-8 through trioxane. This project is the national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" science and technology support plan key project and priority start-up project. The researchers validated the methanol-made DMM3 by optimizing the synthesis, separation and purification of trioxane, optimizing the synthesis of DMM3-8 by synthesis of trioxymethylene, and continuously optimizing catalytic synthesis, separation, and other key engineering technologies. -8 technical reliability, system stability.

The company cooperated with Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and built the first international 10,000-ton DMM3-8 industrial demonstration device. The methanol utilization rate of the device reached 85%, the conversion of trioxane was greater than 90%, and the selectivity of DMM3-8 was close to 50%.

The physical properties of DMM3-8 are similar to that of diesel fuel, and its mutual solubility with diesel oil is good. The use of diesel engine for blending does not require modification of the vehicle engine oil supply system. Its cetane number is as high as 76, oxygen content is 47%~50%, non-sulfur non-aromatic hydrocarbon, blending 10%~20% in diesel, can significantly reduce the freezing point of diesel, improve the combustion characteristics of diesel, improve thermal efficiency, smoke The highest degree can be reduced by 80%, and nitrogen oxides can be reduced by 50%. It is an internationally recognized new environmentally friendly diesel blending component that can reduce fuel consumption and reduce smoke emissions. At the same time, DMM2, DMM3 and DMM4 are also a kind of solvent with extremely strong dissolving power, which has a broad application prospect.

At present, diesel additives used in China such as cetane improver will produce sulfides and nitrogen oxides after combustion. With the improvement of oil quality and environmental protection requirements, diesel fuel additives need to be upgraded. To this end, domestic and foreign companies have conducted process development on DMM3-8. However, the current achievements have resulted in widespread corrosion of liquid acid catalysts, and the key technologies such as low activity of solid acid catalysts, complex process, and product separation have not yet been achieved. Make a breakthrough.

At present, China only uses more than 150 million tons of diesel for transportation every year. If it is added at a rate of 15%, the annual demand for DMM3-8 will exceed 22.5 million tons. It is understood that consumption of methanol is about 1.5 tons per ton of DMM3-8, and if it is to achieve large-scale production, it is expected to consume nearly half of domestic methanol production capacity each year. The successful development of DMM3-8 technology has provided important technical support and effective solutions for mitigating the serious excess of methanol production capacity in China.
