PetroChina Expands China Operations

On June 1, 2015, Malaysian Oil & Lubricants International began a second phase expansion of its lubricant blending plant in Weifang Economic Development Zone, Shandong, China.

“In the second phase of expansion, the Shandong plant will upgrade modern facilities and equipment, highly automated production lines and more storage tanks,” a PLI spokesman told reporters. PetroChina expects that the plant will be put into use by the end of 2016, with a production capacity of approximately 150,000 tons of lubricant per year, valued at approximately ¥2 billion (US$322 million). The company has two mixed plants in Asia - the other in Malacca, Malaysia, which began production in 1994.

“The second phase of expansion is an important milestone for PetroChina International Petroleum, as it lays a solid foundation for the development of the Chinese lubricants market,” said Giuseppe Pedretti, president of Ma Oil Lubricants Asia. "It shows our commitment to bring technological and technological advancements to the Chinese lube industry and our commitment to meet the market demand for rapidly growing high-end lube products."

In April 2015, PLI introduced its newly reformulated flagship product, PetroChina. In 2004, it established the Ma Petroleum Trading China Co., Ltd. to sell its lubricants in China. PLI produces and markets a range of automotive and industrial lubricants in more than 80 markets worldwide. PLI is the lubricants division of Ma Petroleum, the oil company owned by the Malaysian government.
